In the quiet of a dark night, they huddled together in a dark corner of what once was their home. The only hope they could latch on to was that of a quick detachment of their bodies from their souls. Trembling limbs tightly clasped in a vice like grip, they could hear the other's palpitating heart. Agitated by the tremors ,the ground caved in .Engulfed by the quaking earth, their lips quivered ,too weak to speak but in silent prayer..
Always a scare. Seems to be becoming more common each year :/
ReplyDeleteFour Leaf Clover
True that.Scary and traumatic at the same time:(
DeleteA quiet prayer for the quake victims - sad but nicely penned!
ReplyDeleteThank you Priya.
DeleteProfound Sharmila...it reminded me of the 2001 quake.

DeleteThis gave a goosebumps ! Its such a scary experience - earthquakes. I have been subjected to many in Japan - some of them of very high magnitude - 7.5. Japan has earthquake resistant structures so there was no damage - but it was very very scary !
ReplyDeleteHave experienced about three-four,all mild .The insecurity remains the same though ..
DeleteThat sent shivers down my spine. Good job.
ReplyDeleteTried penning a few lines but they can be no where near the real emotions at that time though .
DeleteMust be very scary, for your description is so vivid. Thankfully, I have never had to experience one.
ReplyDeleteWhat I have experienced have been very mild too thankfully.Than you for appreciating :)
DeleteOoh! An earthquake experience can be a bit eerie and unnerving.

Got kind of stuck with Q ,recent quake and photograph of a couple huddled together beneath a staircase, prompted me to pen a few lines.Looking at them was traumatic enough...
DeleteVery moving. Emotions captured aptly.
